Ing. Henry Antwi (Fellow, AusIMM) – Chairman
Ing. Henry Antwi is an Australian based Mining Engineer and Mineral Economist with a demonstrated history of working in the mining and metals industry. His work experience is reflective of his education in its diversity. He started his career as Official Learner at the then Ashanti Goldfields, Obuasi Mine (now part of the AngloGold Ashanti Group) prior to gaining company sponsorship to pursue Mining Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology School of Mines (now University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, Ghana) and Camborne School of Mines, England where he obtained his Bachelors’ Degree. During his working period with Ashanti Goldfields, he participated in exchange attachments with Datamine International in London and Campbell Red Lake Mine in Canada.
He later left the Ashanti Mine to take on a Teaching Assistant role while pursuing Masters’ Degree in Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics at the Colorado School of Mines, USA. He also studied Business Administration at Curtin University in Australia.
He has traveled quite extensively and worked in various roles in Ghana, United States, England, Canada, Australia and the Sultanate of Oman spanning from mining engineering, mineral economics, operational improvement, consulting, mineral processing, mergers and acquisitions, mining policy and investment analysis. Some of the companies he has worked include Ashanti Goldfields, Ghana; BHP – in their US and Australia operations; Campbell Red Lake Mine Canada; AME Mineral Economics, Australia; Runge Consulting, Australia; Thiess Ltd, Australia; Sedgman Ltd, Australia; Oman Oil Company and Minerals Development Oman.
Henry has served on various Executive Committees and Boards in Canada, Australia, Sultanate of Oman and Ghana mainly in Mining and Metals but diversified into other sectors and joined the Advisory Board of Thrivus Institute for Biomedical Science and Technology. He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (the AusIMM), founder and sponsor of the Tarkwa Chapter of the AusIMM and a recipient of the AusIMM 2021 Resources Sector Award for his contribution to the global mining sector and his advisory support to various governments.
He has written a number of papers including co-author of Chapter 41 – Mine Business Planning and Management of the Australasian Coal Mining Practice, Monograph 12, AusIMM, Australia. In an effort to share his career experience, he has published a book “Navigating Career Challenges in the International Mining Industry; The Journey of a Mining Engineer (October 2020). During his visits to Ghana, he makes time to provide lectures at the University of Mines and Technology.
Kofi P. Amponsah-Mensah -Director
Kofi Peter Amponsah-Mensah is a mining engineer by training, from the UST- School of Mines now George Grant University of Mines and Technology (GGUMAT).
His experience spans over three decades in the mining industry where he began from the production face as a production hand and rising through technical operations and management to General Manager at Bibiani mines. His work experiences span across local and international companies and capacities – AGC/AGA – Obuasi, Bibiani, and Mponeng mine SA; Kinross Chirano mines, served in various capacities and roles; Group manager- New business development & strategic planning, where he was involved in M&A, Mining manager, General manager / MD and in directorship roles on a number of boards in various industries. (Mining, Education, Banking and Research)
He is a director/owner of Pamicor; a mining, consulting and mining services company. This has seen him involved in international contracts across West Africa. Viz Burkina faso, Guinea, Mali and Niger. Currently a director of Nsoromma Resources Ltd involved in M&A opportunities in the mining and related industries across West Africa
Kofi has been actively involved in the development of mining industry over two decades. His involvement with mentorship and leadership development, and strategic industry ideation has been phenomenal.
He holds Diplomas in Mining Engineering (USTSM, Ghana now GGUMaT) and Advanced Mining Engineering (Lulea, Sweden); MBA (Cape Town, SA).
He is a Fellow of WAIMM, Accra Mining Network (AMN), Member – Advisory board of the Accra Mining Network, and the Alumni of GGUMaT (ALuMat).
He recently served as Chairman of management board of CSIR-WRI (Water Research Institute)
Director – Asanko Gold mines Ghana Member of board of Governors – Aggrey memorial SHS Board (his Alma Mata) and National President of Aggrey Memorial Old Students Association (AMOSA). He is actively involved in the developmental issues of the mining industry.
Augustine W. Asubonteng (Non Executive Director)
Versatile and goal-focused Mining & Finance professional with proven record of accomplishment in mining operations, business improvement, financial reporting, budgeting, maintaining portfolios, and forecasting. Instrumental in increasing performance efficiency and productivity through evaluation of financial management systems and implementation of business process improvements. In-depth technical knowledge of the mining value chain, processes and key drivers. Adept at designing Management Accounting reports, taxation and negotiations with suppliers. Proficient in using SAP ERP (FI/CO/PS/MM/PM Modules), Microsoft office suite and ACCPAC.
Letitia Amponsah-Mensah (Mrs)-(Board Secretary)
Letitia, is a Director at Pamicor Ltd and a secretary to Nsoromma board of Directors’. She is a trained secretary and has over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry. Her exposure cuts across the various aspects of supply chain management and labour negotiations in the mining industry. Her experience in the mining industry has mainly been at AGA Obuasi mines, where she was Personal assistant to the Head of Supply Chain division and later procurement officer. She was the womens’ representative of the Ghana mine workers union (GMWU-AGA).
As a GMWU representative, she was responsible for the women’s wing of the union, and a member of standing negotiating committee of the Mine union collective bargain agreement (CBA). At Pamicor she is also responsible for all Labour related issues and non-direct mining businesses. Leititia holds Diplomas in Labour studies from the University of Cape Coast, and Secretaryship from the Kumasi Technical University all in Ghana, and the Academy of Learning Cape Town, South Africa.
